Blast-factor: Subway (Updated)
You know... I like Subway food. I really do. Unfortunately, I'm absolutely appalled at the frequency that Subways (yes, that's plural) are out of things. I don't mean like Dr. Pepper, I mean like at least 25% of the menu items. In this instance, it was far worse. We pass by two subways on the way home; one that's built into a gas station and another that's a stand-alone store in a strip mall. We opted for the latter, as it would likely have a great chance of being well stocked. Here's what we found, instead:
Video Games And Violence
To lay down the blanket statement that video games are inherently evil would be ridiculous, but in the same stroke of the pen, we have to note that those that think that violent video games are without any negative effects are naive. Despite that dose of reality, the EU Parlaiment seems to think otherwise. Let's expand on this...
Blast-factor: Google Gmail Support
We ran into a Gmail problem, when my wife discovered she could no longer access her account. Turns out, someone with an ID very similar to hers forgot what her user ID was, contacted Google, and social-engineered her way into access of my wife's account. Instead of realizing the mistake she'd made, she proceeded to:
Delete all my wife's old email
Point all her automatic bill pays at this account
Set up Google Checkout and purchase some google apps referencing this account
Blast-factor: Sony Support Insanity
Ever used a Sony product? I have too and can’t say I had any complaints until I encountered my first hardware issue. It seemed like a bullet-proof setup: I’d take the Sony DVD+RW mini-DVD out of my Sony camcorder and put it in my Sony DVD burner and pull off the VOB files. A simple enough process that I had performed many times, but I noticed that I started getting corrupted MPG’s. Perfectly watchable on a forgiving DVD player, but any sort of editting or viewing software would stutter every 13 seconds when viewing the original VOB’s, which are nothing more than MPG2-compressed files. So, not knowing the sheer stupidity I was in for, I called Sony support…
