Quick-Tip: Free Up Hard Drive Space
It's amazing how quickly you can fill up a hard-drive, especially if you're a power-user. ISO's, Zip file's, and truckloads of family footage can bust the seems of any hard drive in an eye blink. I had run across a utility that helped visually identify where all the space was going and thanks to a recent post on Lifehacker, I've had a friendly reminder of where to find it.
CCNA Security (640-553)

I passed. Even though I'm working toward my CCIE Routing and Switching, I knew this wouldn't be a chump test. There's only so much I can say about it under the NDA, but here's my results and the steps leading up to it.
Quick-Tip: Copying From a Command Prompt (DOS prompt)
This may not be pervasive in your environment, but I've asked for this email from people and received it in the form of screen captures. I kid you not, ragged-looking, email-size-inflating screen captures that you stand no chance of using the "copy" functionality on. It's not really their fault; they likely asked someone how to get the information out of a command prompt once and that was the answer they were given. Take the time to educate them as to the proper way to harvest the information with the following steps.
Quick-Tip: Vista & Samba
OK, after shrugging off the Vista-haters, I decided to wipe XP off my laptop and give it a try. There's a slight learning curve, but it's not unreasonable for your typical power-user. One of the issues I ran into, was authentication errors when attempting to map a drive to a Samba share. Every time I'd type in what I knew to be an accurate set of credentials, I'd get denied. Thankfully, there's a few ways around it.
